Grand Opening for MSU Science and Technology Center Held

On October 16th, the grand opening ceremony for the MSU Science and Technology Center was held at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center. The $9 million, 38,000 square-foot research facility was funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and is the new home for the university-led Northern Gulf Institute and researchers from MSU's Geosystems Research Institute. NOAA's National Coastal Data Development Center and an Engineering Branch of NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service will also be located in the facility.

Senator Roger Wicker was the keynote speaker at the event. Remarks were also made by MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum, Dr. David Shaw, Vice President of Research and Economic Development at MSU, Mr. Kenneth Human, Associate Director of the John C. Stennis Space Center and Mr. David Kennedy, Assistant Administrator of NOAA's National Ocean Service.
