In the New York Times article, Leslie Kaufman reviews the research efforts resulting from the spill. Her summary is that "what has emerged in studies so far is not a final tally of damage, but a new window on the complexities of the gulf, and the vulnerabilities and capacities of biological systems in the face of environmental insults." The NGI remote sensing research collaboration between Mississippi State University and Jackson State University receives mentioned in the article.
